About Us
Black Alder is a radical story-telling and communications strategy firm. Founded in 2021, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and the unrelenting uprisings around the state-sanctioned killings of Black people, Black Alder was created out of a desire to support organizations, companies, movements and other formations advance a vision of collective liberation and equity.
We view our ability to thrive as interconnected with those around us. Black Alder is both a seed that has been planted and the harvest of those who came before us. We see the firm as an offering to our community and a radical intervention. We work alongside organizers, activists, and storytellers to win change for our communities.

From building Black political power and divesting from systems of state violence — to ending sexual violence and fighting for reproductive rights — we tell the stories that expose the inequities and injustices that harm our communities.
Black Feminism, and Queer and Trans Liberation

Did you know that we have a 501c3? Black Alder Labs aims to build and scale the availability of highly trained communications, narrative and creative strategists who are well-equipped to support the work of progressive organizations, projects and efforts around the nation. Black Alder Labs is a place where the brightest thinkers, leaders and creators can come collaborate on work that will enhance our ability to shift the conditions of the most vulnerable in our communities, now and in the future.
